Tranquillity Meditation

As the philosophy of the Tao is a source of nourishment for our
daily life, Ziran Qigong through its Taoist tranquility meditation can
develop inner peace and strength to help deal with day to day stress,
and lead us into the great space of consciousness and happiness.

There are three paths to the tranquility meditation: the mind of an empty room, the mind of still water and the mind of a bright mirror.

In this meditation, we will be concentrating on:

1) The internal state; looking inside ourselves, removing all distracting thoughts and emotions, emptying the mind, thus mind without mind

2) The external body, releasing all tensions, relaxing and allowing the body to disappear, thus form without form

 3) Distantly observing the outside world, letting the matter disappear, seeing it as formless, thus world without world.

Once you achieve these three states of emptiness, you are in a state of tranquility.

道家千八钻(Tao Jian Qian Bar Zuan/Quang Ba Zhuang)Taoist 1008 Drills Qigong

Taoists believe that man is a microcosm for the universe. The body
ties directly into five elements, the five organs correlate with the
five elements, the five directions and the seasons. There is no end or
beginning of the life, all things are in transformation, in the great
circle. The movement of our body’s Qi is in arising, descending,
releasing and absorbing. Basic on this conception Taoist 1008 drill
Qigong' (Qian Ba Zuan) was created and passing down by our greatest
Master Half Immortal Liu ( 刘神仙) to stretch the tendons, open all of
meridians to stimulate and harmonise the flow of Blood and Qi in all
directions, transferred one’s body into a moving sphere in which no
only just in physical but in qi and shen. This is then enlightening
the body. Students will practise floating the Qi in all directions
whilst maintaining a centred and strong foundation.

Five Element Qi Gong description by Master Liu

Five Element Qi Gong

(Internal Nourishment)

The Taoists believe that there are five basic energies or element
which make up the universe. There are Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and
Earth. These five elements are also found within the human body and
relate to specific organs. Through regular practice of the movements
with your mind focused on the breath and meridian points, Five Element
Qi Gong works to balance and purify these five Organs and six 腑Fu. By
building up with a great Qi flow, strengthens your 元Yuan Qi that
enable to prevent the buildup of negative Qi and disease.

During practice, the practitioner’s mind should be in state of
meditation. When your 意Yi (will) concentrate in different meridians,
this will help you to clean up the emotions which affect your organs
and fu’s  functions, such as grief, fear, anger, anxiety and worry. By
detoxing and keep your five element in great balance, this will
greatly enhances heath and vitality.

Zi Ran Qi Gong Level 1 Description by Master Liu

Level 1:  舒筋清经功(Shu Jin Qing Jing Gong)
Tendon & Meridian Cleansing Method (Recognition)

During this stage the practitioner will undertake exercises involving
gentle movement of stretch and cleanse the body’s tendons and energy
meridians.  The goal of stage one is to obtain a state of meditative
relaxation through movement and to move in such a manner that their
entire body feels as if it is “interconnected”. As the practitioner
becomes more efficient at relaxed interconnected movement, enters the
meditative emotional state required for such movement, they most
likely also feel subtle physiological sensations, such as increased
blood flow to the palms or feet, or a tingling sensation along
meridians. This is known as “floating” the Qi.

When the practitioner reaches this stage they will also notice that
certain parts of their body will feel “blocked” at certain points and
that the Qi can not move freely there.  It is through this practice
that the Qi Gong practitioner can then identify areas of “carried”
emotional stress, and therefore will have achieved recognition. As the
progress of training, practitioner will learn to release this physical
and emotional tension as well as to unblock Qi blockages within the
body and lets Qi flow.

动静无始,变化无端;

虚虚实实,自然而然。

There is no beginning or end in movement,
There is no beginning or end in stillness,
change is instant,
Movement is within stillness.

True or false, real or empty,

All actions are spontaneous,

Actionless action.
